WHERE I MUST GO

It is where I must go...

This is why...

The missin' of the land
The sand where it meets ocean
The sea where it meets rock
The grass where it meets sheep

What is it in me that will not let go
Detach me from the notion I belong
Am part and parcel
To that lovely garden place
Far far away from the earth of my birth

It catches me unawares
My breath stops
I feel the pull
The tide
In then out
Perhaps I am an island too
Alone in this sea of inequity

Expatriotic
Renouncing
All that is known to me
In favor of this madness
This lunar pull plaidness
That blankets my life

In limbo, I wait for the gate
To open and let me free
You can paint me in colors
Like the sheep
Red white and blue
But in my bucolic pasture
I shall not
Cannot stay
I must stray
Stray
