The Rabbit Hole

When Alice fell, she tumbled.
Due curiosity or fate or a bumble.

But when I awoke so far below
How I got here, I just don't know.

Standing short, staring hard
From where I came, seems so far.

Wonder if the water will come next.
Don't know if hiding would be best.

Or should I try to climb out of the muck
Get out of this place before I'm stuck?

I swore I'd never fall again
Getting out is just too hard to mend.

But I said too much about how I feel
And now it's all I can do not to reel.

Think it might be best
To stay in this Rabbit Hole and rest.

Let the world pass on by
Until I once again learn to fly.

Then I'll claw my way out of here.
Throw on a smile and be without fear.

Because I don't want to be back in this rut.
I'll have to learn to keep my big mouth shut.
