There's something about
The way I walk
The way I talk
The way I fall apart

Outside, I am all right
Make you laugh all day and night
Inside, though, I am a horror
Much too complicated for most to bother

I wish for things to be the way I see
Not as they are or were or probably will be
Against it, I can fight and fight and fight
But I can't quite seem to get it right

Like other girls, I am not.
Perhaps it's my choice or just my lot
Often wish it was another way
But you can't go back and have that say

Don't care much what most think
There are a few, though, who make me blink
Either I speak too quickly or not at all
Given to hiding behind jokes or my brick wall

Can't make people see me as I see them
Aren't enough hours or days or months to bend
But as long as I manage to get out bed
Life will continue to be a lot safer in my head
