Paisley double turn on Sinn Fein says Reg Empey

Ian Paisley the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party has been accused by Reg Empey the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party of handing Gerry Adams a propaganda victory at their historic first meeting. Empey said the televised meeting between the DUP leader and Mr Adams was "bizarre" doing more for the Sinn Fein leader than it did for unionism. "I'm not criticising Ian for meeting with Gerry Adams what I'm criticising him for is for allowing it to be turned into a Sinn Fein photo-fest. He should have met him long ago and I called for that. But the point I have to make is that we in our party got dogs abuse for trying to deal with the republican movement over the years from Ian Paisley and his colleagues. And yet they've done things in the last few weeks which we'd have been hounded out for"
