Billy Connolly patron of Celtic fc foundation

Celtic FC have made Scottish comedian Billy Connolly patron of the Celtic Foundation, the club's community projects arm.
The 64-year-old Glaswegian is a lifelong Celtic fan, and chief executive Peter Lawwell has welcomed his support for the charity.
Lawwell said: "We're delighted that someone of the stature of Billy has agreed to become patron.His profile will be useful in raising awareness of our social dimension. His involvement will be crucial in motivating those people we are assisting and those who we would like to get involved in our work."

meanwhile Celtic have been handed a very tough draw for the qalifying stages of the Champions league. played on the 14/15 and 28/29 August. Celtic will play match against Spartak Moscow.
Celtic operations manager Ronnie Hawthorn said it was certain to be a tough match for the Scottish champions.
"Everyone is seeing it as a difficult game but it's the old story - they're all difficult games. I know Gordon Strachan and his team will be preparing as they do for every match - thoroughly. So we'll prepare positively for this game and we'll do everything in our power to be successful in it. Certainly it's a long way to go, we've never played them before and they're a team that deserve our utmost respect."
The lucrative group stages of the competition run from 18 September to 12 December and the final will be played in Moscow on 21 May 2008.
