RTE GAA football review
We were supposed to see these two old foes meet in an All-Ireland final last year. However, Ciaran McDonald and Mayo had other ideas and so the traditionalists (not to mention thousands of Dublin fans) were left disappointed.
There has been much mention of the classic clashes of yesteryear, but really Dublin and Kerry have not had much contact in Championship terms in recent times. The Kingdom were in the doldrums in the early to mid 1990s, as the Dubs claimed four consecutive Leinster titles before landing Sam Maguire in 1995.

The game could be won or lost by the Dublin forwards. They will get plenty of chances against a Kerry backline that looks more porous than in previous years. To be fair, any team would struggle to fill the gap left by the retirement of a player like Séamus Moynihan.
Dublin have been quick to dismiss suggestions from the opposing camp that the men from the capital are the favourites for this game. This is a further sign of the maturity they have developed under Caffrey's guidance.
No team has retained the All-Ireland since Cork in 1990, and so recent history suggests Kerry will falter before the season is out. They will certainly be better than they were against Monaghan, but how much better?
This is a fine Kerry team but they look a couple of players short of being able to break the mould and secure back-to-back titles. And it could be that Monaghan was no hiccup and Pat O'Shea's charges have problems that cannot be solved in the short term.
