RTE recommends that consumers wishing to avail of the SAORVIEW service only purchase receivers that carry the SAORVIEW approved logo.

By October 2012 SAORVIEW should be accessible to 98% of the population. Approximately 2% of the population will not be able to receive the SAORVIEW service. This will provide coverage to the homes not covered by SAORVIEW.

Digitial tv only future in Ireland
Ireland's Analogue Switch Off (ASO) is when analogue television transmission in Ireland will be turned off. This will happen in late 2012.
Like the rest of Europe, North America and many other countries, television broadcasting in Ireland is switching from analogue to digital transmission.
Digital television is a major step change in broadcasting that has many advantages over analogue for TV viewers. Digital TV can offer more channels, high definition (HD) pictures and sound, on-screen programme guides and new interactive services.
