Yes TJ, the Czech's without Koller are not the same side. that was showing when he went off and blatant yesterday.
That is the craic. regardless even of how brilliant Argentina were, the only game that matters before a final of a cup, is the next.
Italy, Brazil, Germany have all proved that down the years with mediocrity and underperforming all the way to a final (the key being they all actually had the second gear; the cliche used is laughable in some teams who clearly do not have one gear let alone two)
A much better performance by the USA. Some great skill by that player on the right, he was playing like a wingback (can't recall his name) up and down and he made multi million euro defenders look like boys.
Though I initially thought the same about the to US red cards (especially thr second) on seeing the replays, the sending offs imo were all correct. (dangerous play)
The first to the Italian was obvious
The second was whether intentional or not a potential leg breaker, watch again and ye will see he actually hits the Italians anchor foot head on ( the ball is two three feet away)
The second was plain stupidity by Pope, it was a sliding (mostly floor) challenge that he would have known by now was a yellow card offence, and as it was his second! so he goes off!
Professional players know that a ref is likely to equal up a red card at any obvious opportunity presented.
Arena had got the players TOO wound up, if he had not ye could have won last night. where as in the end ye were lucky (the Italians are not as great as the so called professional commentators suggest) to hang on. (the ref missed a clear penalty for the Italian, the USA defender was pulling at his shirt for about two seconds in the box (=penalty) at the end)
Have to agree TJ that based on Ghana yesterday it is over.
But! that was yesterday and it simply does not work that way 11 against a different (or even the same) 11 tomorrow
Argentina look firm favourites to me now
