A memorial plaque to honour of one of the forgotten women of 1916 was unveiled today in City Quay Park, Dublin 2. the birthplace of Elizabeth O'Farell. THe memorial was unveiled at 11am by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Vincent Jackson.

The 1916 memorial plaque commemorates Elizabeth O’Farrell of Cumman na mBan, someone who played a full and active role in the Easter rising of 1916. Elizabeth O’Farrell accompanied Padraig Pearse when the official surrender was handed over to the British forces at Moore Lane, and it was she who took around the surrender orders to the other leaders at their positions.
