SUNDAY SONG

Sundays have always been peaceful days
A day to put my cares away
The sound of the church bells reassuring
The troubles of the past week blurring
A sense of clearing in its stead
A sense of hope for the days ahead

A chance, an opportunity
To try again or wait and see
Sundays give me a place to start
When a spot needs healing in my heart
Oh, the other days of the week are fine
But none of them are so Devine

This sense of peace and wonderment
I sometimes think are heavensent
The church organ commands my soul
To fill with love the deepest hole
Soothe everday insanities
And save my own humanity

I sing with all I have to give
If I couldn't sing, how could I live?
My voice, once silent, must be heard
With every note and every word
And with each hymn, a glipse of heaven
On this glorious Day Number Seven

Thank the Powers for this peace
That descends over me this day at least
So hurried, hectic is the week
That I sometimes barely get to speak
So if I sing too loud or long
Forgive me for my Sunday song...
